JOCV Exit Interview – Naoki Taniyama

1. What is the most interesting experience you had while in Zimbabwe?

-My most interesting experience was to spend two years in Zimbabwe with diverse and difficult culture. At first, I could not adjust but after one (1) year, I was then able to get used and enjoyed it.

2. What are some of the greatest achievements you had attained at your work place in Zimbabwe?

-I taught and spread baseball to junior and high school students.

3. What is the biggest challenge that you have faced during your work activities and how have you handled it?

-A lot of complains but through professional skills about baseball I managed most of them.

4. Which is the most interesting place that you have visited in Zimbabwe? And Why?

-Bindura. I did homestay program with Yamamura-san and we ate rural chicken and it was a great experience.

5. Which are some of your favourite Zimbabwean food and beverages?

-Sadza and chicken. (Isitshwala lenyama yenkukhu -in Ndebele language)

I miss Sadza

6. Any further Comments?

- I have changed so much in my life because of the two years I spend in Zimbabwe. The experiences shall always be my treasure.
