Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development receives new JOCVs

The new Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCVs) had the opportunity to be welcomed to Zimbabwe by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development, Professor Fanuel Tagwira on the 26th of August 2021. In his welcoming remarks, Professor Tagwira said the continued deployment of JOCVs to Zimbabwe by Japan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) was testimony to the ever growing and strong ties between the two countries. He further expressed gratitude for the support JICA is rendering to the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development as the JOCVs bring in critical skills such as Information Communication Technology to the country's tertiary education institutions.

Following the meeting with the Ministry, the volunteers were deployed to their assignment places where they are expected to offer skills in baseball coaching, Physical Education training, Tourism and Hospitality, and Information Communication Technology. During their two year assignment, the volunteers are also expected to work closely with Zimbabwean people at grass-root levels.
