The ‘Project for Strengthening Quality of Medical Education' provided equipment for the improvement of the Internet access environment at Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan (KGUMSB) and the regional teaching hospital as part of the FY2020 grant.

Although it took some time for the equipment to be transported during the COVID-19 pandemic, the installation of the equipment has been completed in the three buildings of KGUMSB, where the respective departments (Department of Postgraduate Medicine, Department of Nursing and Public Health, and Department of Traditional Medicine) are located. As a result, wireless Internet access is now available on campus and the connection speed has been greatly improved.

While monitoring the pandemic situation, the project will be installing the equipment at the regional teaching hospitals (Mongar Regional Referral Hospital and Gelephu Central Regional Referral Hospital).

The improvement of the Internet environment in the university and teaching hospitals will open up many possibilities, such as online education for students, online training for medical professionals including residents, conferences connecting the university and regional teaching hospitals, and digitization for university administration.

This project will continue to support KGUMSB in its efforts to digitize these various aspects.
