Emergency Assistance to the Republic of Haiti in Response to the Earthquake

The Japan International Cooperation Agency will provide emergency relief goods as below in response to the request from the Government of the Republic of Haiti.

1. Disaster situation
The Earthquake , which struck the country on August 14 around 21:29 (local time 8:29on the same day), has resulted in a large number of those affected including the loss of lives and significant substantial damage. According to the Government of Haiti, the damage situation as of 16 August was as follows:
Deaths 1,297 people
Injured more than 2,800 people

2. Goods supplied
A. Emergency relief goods (from the JICA warehouse in Miami)
Plastic sheets
Sleeping pads
Portable jerry cans

B. Shipping schedule
The goods will be transported from the JICA warehouse in Miami to Port-au-Prince, Capital of the Republic of Haiti on the next available flight.
