Emergency Assistance to the Republic of Zambia in Response to the Flood Disaster

The Japan International Cooperation Agency will provide emergency relief goods as below in response to the flood caused by cyclone Ana, upon the request from the Government of the Republic of Zambia.

1. Disaster situation
Flood, which occurred around mid-January 2022, has been causing serious human and property damage. According to announcement by the Government of Zambia, the damage situation as of January 31, 2022 was as follows:

Affected: 38,706 people (6,451 households)
Evacuees: 546 households
Injured: 2 people
Collapsed houses: 541 houses

2. Goods supplied
A. Emergency relief goods (from the JICA warehouse in Dubai)
Tents
Blankets
Plastic sheets
Portable jerry cans
Water purifiers

B. Shipping schedule
The goods will be transported from the JICA warehouse in Dubai to Lusaka, Zambia on the next available flight.
