Signing ceremony
On August 22, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a loan agreement with the Government of the Republic of El Salvador in San Salvador to provide a Japanese ODA loan of up to 51.37 million US dollars for the San Miguel Bypass Construction Project (II). National Route 1, which passes through San Miguel, the main city in eastern El Salvador, is an important logistics network in the Latin American region, connecting Mexico to Panama, and has become more congested as the country's economy has grown. This project will enhance the transportation capacity of the city of San Miguel and its surrounding area by constructing a bypass and increasing the number of traffic lanes, thereby contributing to the economic development of El Salvador. This project will also contribute to the achievement of SDGs Goal 9 (Industry, innovation and infrastructure).
