Signing of Grant Agreement with Nepal: Contributing to the improvement of agricultural productivity through rehabilitation of irrigation facilities in the Eastern Terai area

On September 21, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a grant agreement with the Government of Nepal in Kathmandu to provide grant aid of up to 2.256 billion yen for the Project for the Rehabilitation of Irrigation System in Eastern Terai Area.

This project aims to secure the stable supply and efficient use of irrigation water by rehabilitating existing irrigation facilities in the eastern part of the Terai Plain, which accounts for approximately 80% of the total irrigated area in Nepal. This project is expected to improve agricultural productivity in the target area, contributing to SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) Goals 1 (No poverty) and 2 (Zero hunger).
