Signing of Record of Discussions on Technical Cooperation Project with Laos: Contributing to the sustainable development of the World Heritage town of Luang Prabang through urban transport improvement

On October 24, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Record of Discussions with the Government of Lao People's Democratic Republic for the Project on Sustainable Urban and Transport Management in Luang Prabang, a technical cooperation project.

The project aims to provide capacity development for the government officers involved in urban transport planning and project implementation in Luang Prabang. By doing so, it will contribute to the realization of transport projects that will help Luang Prabang prosper as a sustainable city of tourism, thereby achieving SDGs Goal 11 (Sustainable cities and communities).

Specific project details (provisional) Capacity development of government officers through urban transport master-plan development, as well as pilot project planning and implementation.
