The courtesy visit of Mr. BAYALA, JICA scholarship holder to His Excellency the Ambassador of Japan in Burkina Faso

Mr. BAYALA Thierry Roger from the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation has been selected to participate in the long-term program "SDG's Global Leadership Program (JFY2023)" of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). He will pursue Ph.D. studies at the Nagoya Institute of Technology as a research student in the Engineering Department.

Before leaving for Japan, Mr. BAYALA was received on a courtesy call by His Excellency Mr. KATO, the Japanese Ambassador to Burkina. He was accompanied by Mrs. ARAI Chiaki, Third Secretary. He was advised by His Excellency on

  • The need to maintain good health in order to study well,
  • The need to concentrate on studies in order to acquire maximum knowledge,
  • Learn about Japanese culture and history to better understand Japan's development
  • Join the JICA Alumni Association to share experiences and benefit from the education.

At the end of his studies, Mr. BAYALA hopes to contribute to the development of Burkina Faso.

Mr. BAYALA thanked the Ambassador for the opportunity to continue his studies in Japan. He had already benefited from the ABE Initiative scholarship to pursue a Master's research at Miyagi University in 2016, the topic of which was the implementation of an intelligent system capable of detecting Twitter messages related to meningitis in order to prevent the risk of epidemics using artificial intelligence. He is also co-founder of the FasoDrones company.
