1975      Start of cooperation in Côte d'Ivoire
1991 Start of deployment of Japanese Volunteers - Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV) programme
1992 Opening of the JOCV office
1994 Opening of the JICA office
1998 JOCV: 100 members
2002 JOCV: 150 members
Evacuation of all JICA staff due to security instability
2004 Cooperation is limited to hosting trainee projects, leaving three local employees. The Burkina Faso office is under the simultaneous control of JICA Côte d’Ivoire.
2010 Staff are deployed to resume cooperation.
2012 The office was moved to its current location in Cocody.
2023 The office becomes a regional hub for West Africa (Togo, Benin, Niger and Burkina Faso).
2026 Resumption of the JOCV programme (planned)
