Republic of Guinea

The Republic of Guinea is a country in West Africa about the size of Honshu island of Japan, facing the Atlantic Ocean. Guinea is an agricultural country producing a variety of crops, including rice and cassava, and is also rich in mineral resources, producing bauxite, which is a raw material for aluminium, gold and diamonds. Despite being rich in natural resources, there is still needs for economic development and the challenge is to balance economic efficiency with the stability of the people's lives. JICA implements its cooperation in the priority areas of 1)food security, 2)Infrastructure for economic development 3)improvement of basic social services, for sustainable development.
