2024.12.19
On November 29, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) participated as a presenter at the “2024 RE Japan Invest Indonesia” Forum held at the Embassy of Indonesia in Japan. The forum started with the opening remarks from His Excellency Heri Akhmadi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to Japan and the Director General Eniya Listiani Dewi of Director General of New and Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. Followingly, various panelists from Indonesia and Japan conducted their presentations and discussions.
The Government of Indonesia is at a critical juncture in the energy transition, working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, strengthen renewable energy supply capacity, and strengthen energy independence. As the country continues to achieve stable economic growth, the need for sustainable and efficient energy solutions is increasing. JICA's cooperation with the Indonesian government aims to address these needs by promoting co-creation and innovation in several key areas.
Mr. NASU Takenori, Director of the Southeast Asia Division 1 of JICA's Southeast Asia and Pacific Department, introduced JICA’s contribution for renewable energy development and its current focus, as well as the “Data collection survey for promoting hydrogen society in Indonesia”, which will be newly launched from November 2024. Mr. Nasu also put emphasis “JICA’s cooperation has been mostly focused at public institutions, but from now on, we would like to further expand cooperation with the private sector in close collaboration with other Japanese government institutions.”
Through this cooperation, which plays an integral role in the energy transition, JICA and the Government of Indonesia will contribute to Indonesia's goal of achieving net zero by 2060. This partnership will pave the way for a number of joint initiatives, drive the transition to renewable energy, increase the overall efficiency of energy projects, and contribute to Indonesia's sustainable and stable economic growth.
