New JICA Grant to Enhance Quality of Public Broadcasting in Moldova

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will provide grant assistance to the Republic of Moldova for the project “Improvement of Television Programme Production Equipment at Teleradio-Moldova (TRM)”. The Grant Agreement (G/A) for the project was signed in Japan on March 24, 2026, by Mr. Toyama Kei, Director General of the Middle East and Europe Department, JICA, and was subsequently signed in Chișinău by Mr. Vlad Turcanu, Director General of the national public broadcaster, Teleradio-Moldova (TRM).

Under this agreement, JICA will provide grant assistance of up to 192 million Japanese Yen to support the modernization of television programme production equipment at Teleradio-Moldova.

The project aims to enhance the programme production capacity of “Moldova 2,” the educational and cultural television channel operated by TRM, thereby enabling the delivery of higher-quality content to the public. By improving technical capabilities, the project is also expected to contribute to the diversification of information, the expansion of learning opportunities, and the strengthening of social cohesion across the country.

In addition to the procurement and installation of modern broadcasting equipment, the project will provide consulting services to ensure smooth implementation.

JICA will continue to support efforts toward the development of public media in the Republic of Moldova.
