Promoting Public-Private Partnership! PNG-Japan Economic Session ~PNG-Japan Public Private Joint Economic Seminar & PNG-Japan Business Forum~

On 28th February, JICA PNG Office participated in PNG-Japan Public Private Joint Economic Seminar and PNG-Japan Business Forum held in Stanley Hotel in Port Moresby. At the PNG-Japan Public Private Joint Economic Seminar, both PNG and Japanese government officials and private company officials gave presentations on the policies and initiatives, challenges, and prospects towards expanding trade, investment, and tourism. Subsequently, the PNG-Japan Business Forum held introduction by the PNG Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce and Industry (POMCCI), Japanese companies operating in PNG, and Japanese companies operating mainly in the Melanesia region. Afterwards, roundtables were held for each field and both PNG and Japan side exchanged opinions.
Mr. Matsuoka, Chief Representative of JICA PNG Office, gave a presentation about Japan’s ODA in PNG at PNG-Japan Public Private Joint Economic Seminar, which Japan has been cooperating towards the economic and social development of PNG since 1974. JICA is contributing to tackle social and economic challenges in PNG by improving the business environment and providing support for the introduction of technologies and products by Japanese companies. We will continue to promote this initiative and promote public-private partnership.
