JICA PNG Office played host to a first of its kind Regional Seminar which was held from the 11 – 13 March 2024, in Port Moresby. Participants travelled in from Samoa, Timor-Leste, Vanuatu, Tonga and Fiji who participated online. This Seminar was conducted for the National Staff who worked alongside the Japanese in the coordination of the JICA Volunteer Program but topics covered also included various aspects of other work also handled by the same staff. Officers in JICA PNG shared and provided insights on some of our well- run Programs and activities including JICA Trainings, JICA PR, Gender Mainstreaming, JICA Alumni and General Affairs. Part of the Program was a trip to Sogeri to visit the Primary School which hosts JICA Volunteer Teachers. The participants witnessed a typical Primary School in a rural PNG setting and observed the contributions of the JICA Volunteers there. It was a successful 3 day seminar, a first time visit to PNG by our Pacific friends who returned armed with Action Plans and fond memories of Amazing Port Moresby!
