JICA attends the 24th National Health Conference

JICA participated in the 24th National Health Conference at the APEC Haus on the 11th of November 2024 hosted by the Ministry of Health. The theme of this conference was “Improve Corporate and Clinical governance to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC)”.
The main objectives for this conference were to Establish good governance and leadership framework to achieve UHC, leaders at all levels in the organization set up and use clinical governance systems to improve the safety and quality of health care for patients and governance arrangements for sustainable and successful Primary Health Care (PHC).
This conference was an opportunity for JICA and other Development Partners to understand the plans of the Government of PNG and other DP’s to identify gaps for cooperation.
Highlights from the conference included the launching of the Medium-term Health Development Plan and Sector Performance Annual Review 2019-2023 by the prime Minister Hon. James Marape. JICA also had the opportunity to present on its cooperation in the health sector and acknowledged the NDOH cooperation over the years. One of JICA’s ongoing projects is “The Project for the Elimination of Lymphatic Filariasis” implemented across 7 target Provinces in PNG-New Ireland, East and West New Britain, East and West Sepik, Manus and Autonomous Region of Bougainville.
