JICA Volunteer Introduces Local Prices and Food Culture
2025.08.14
JICA Volunteer working in PNG has created a video introducing daily life in their community.
You can see the movie at the following link.(JICA PNG Facebook Page)
In the video, the JICA volunteer (Mr. Koki Matsumoto / Alotau ULLG) visits a market built with the support of the Government of Japan, where they explain the prices of vegetables, fruits, and staple foods, and show how shopping is done. Through the volunteer’s comments, viewers can feel the charm and uniqueness of daily life in PNG.
In the second half, the video features simple dishes made with locally available ingredients, as well as the volunteer’s favourite local foods. You can see how they enjoy cooking and eating by making the most of limited ingredients.
This video is a great opportunity to discover both the differences and similarities between life in Japan and PNG.
We hope you will watch it and enjoy comparing it with your own daily life.
