Mr. HAYAKAWA-Director General for Southeast Asia and Pacific Department celebrates Golden Jubilee

From 15th to 17th September, Mr. HAYAKAWA Yuho, Director General of Southeast Asia and Pacific Department in JICA HQ, visited Papua New Guinea (PNG) to attend the 50th Anniversary of Independence Celebrations, officially representing JICA President Dr. TANAKA. The overview of the visit is as follows:
1. Participation in PNG’s 50th Independence Anniversary Ceremonies
Director General Mr. HAYAKAWA attended the official ceremonies hosted by the PNG Government as an official representative of JICA. On Monday 15th September, he participated in a Dinner Reception hosted by PNG Prime Minister Hon. James Marape at APEC Haus. On Tuesday 16th September, he attended the flag raising ceremony held at Independence Hill at National Parliament, followed by an official breakfast meeting hosted by the Speaker Hon. Job Pomat.

2. Site Visit to Japan’s ODA Projects
On Tuesday 16th September, Director General Mr. HAYAKAWA visited National Education Media Center in Port Moresby, which was developed under JICA’s grant aid and supported by technical cooperation. On Wednesday 17th September, he visited Port Moresby Sewerage at Joyce Bay, which was developed under JICA’s ODA loan project.

3. Exchange of Views with JICA Experts
On Monday 15th September, Director General Mr. HAYAKAWA held discussions with JICA Experts engaged in projects in the field of Development Planning, Education, and Health.

4. Exchange of Views with Development Partners
On Tuesday 16th September, Director General Mr. HAYAKAWA held a meeting with Mr. Benoit Chassatte, Representative of French Development Agency (AFD), to exchange views and seek further collaboration. He also engaged in a conversation with other Development Partners during the ceremonies.

5. Visit to Bomana War Cemetery
On Monday 15th September, Director General Mr. HAYAKAWA visited Bomana War Cemetery where 3824 people rest in peace.
