Sacred Heart Teachers College, established in 2010 by the Catholic Archdiocese of Port Moresby, trains teachers for remote schools. The college continues to play a vital role in strengthening primary education across the country. Mr. SHIROUZU Kenichi, Senior Representative of JICA PNG Office, attended the ceremony as a guest and delivered a heartfelt congratulatory speech. He highlighted JICA’s support for education in PNG, including:

  • Enhancing remote education through TV-based learning since the late 1990s
  • Developing the country’s first math and science textbooks for Grades 3–6 (2016–2020)
  • Supporting curriculum and teacher training improvements since 2021
He mentioned “Education is the foundation of a country. You, as new teachers, will shape the future of Papua New Guinea by educating its children”.
