On 26th May, the National Energy Authority (NEA), together with JICA, hosted the Final Report Presentation for the “Advisor for Promotion of Electrification Policy Implementation” at the NEA Office in Port Moresby.
Since June 2024, this project has been supporting PNG’s electrification efforts—strengthening policies, building institutions, and creating strategic plans to expand access to reliable and sustainable energy
The event brought together NEA, JICA, consultants, Development Partners, and media, creating a lively platform to share key achievements, lessons learned, and policy recommendations.
Participants also had active discussions on progress so far and the path ahead showing a strong, shared commitment to improving energy access across the country.
The project also emphasized gender mainstreaming, recognizing that improved access to electricity can enhance safety, education, and economic opportunities—especially for women and girls—and encouraging gender perspectives to be integrated into energy planning
JICA will continue working closely with the Government of PNG and partners to support sustainable energy development and inclusive growth.
