Completion of construction of 2x32 MW Gas Turbine Units at Tashkent Cogeneration Heat and Power Plant for efficient supply of heat and power in Tashkent city

2024.05.08

On May 8, the construction of two modern Gas Turbine Units (GTUs) was completed at Tashkent Cogeneration Heat and Power Plant in the framework of Tashkent Thermal Power Cogeneration Plant Construction Project implemented under and financed by a concessional ODA loan provided by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in the amount of JPY 12 billion.

The constructed GTUs will produce 515.6 million kWh of electric power and 690.3 thousand Gcal of heat annually, while contributing to the reduction of GHG emission by 5.8 tons and saving of natural gas by 26 million cubic meters per year. Thus, the project will enhance the efficiency and supply of heat and power in Tashkent city and mitigate environmental impact of power generation.

The power plant was constructed by Turkish Calik Enerji Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S., with the GTUs supplied by Mitsubishi Power. The project management consultant is a joint venture formed by German Tractebel Engineering GmbH and Contec Consulting and Services GmbH.
