On June 3-7, 2024, Professor of Kyushu University, Dr. Yuichi Sugai has visited Uzbekistan and started the successful implementation of SATREPS technical cooperation project “Development of Innovative Technologies for Efficient Generation of Green/Blue Hydrogen for Realization of Carbon-Neutral Society with Consideration of Industrial and Environmental Characteristics in the Region”. Professor Dr. Sugai, as Project leader, facilitated the detailed discussions for the ongoing activities, including the schedule of trainings for researchers from Uzbekistan in Japan, and perspective plans of actions during his meetings at the Uzbek-Japan Innovation Center of Youth (UJICY), National Scientific Research Institute of Renewable Energy Sources, National University of Uzbekistan, Navoi State University of Mines and Technologies.

The current visit helped to solidify the strong ties between academia and industry of Japan and Uzbekistan. It is worth to note that the Project is promoted by JICA and Japan Science and Technology Agency in collaboration with the Ministries of Energy and Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Uzbekistan aimed at building models for research and implementing cutting-edge technologies for realizing a sustainable and resilient hydrogen society.
