2024.08.26

Mr. Oybek Khasanov, Deputy Head of the Department of International Tax Relations of the Tax Committee, shares his experience and thoughts on a short-term training on international taxation organized by JICA in Japan:

“I am Khasanov Oybek Mardonovich, I work in the Tax Committee under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan as Deputy Head of the Department of International Tax Relations.

I have participated in a training course on international taxation organized by JICA in Tokyo, Japan for three weeks. This training course was attended by qualified specialists from the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Fiji, Mongolia working in the field of direct international taxation. The training course was organized efficiently, which gave all participants a great opportunity to improve their cognitive skills during this short period of time.

As an example, the following can be cited: Firstly, familiarization with Japan's long-term positive experience in the field of international taxation through experts from the Japanese National Tax Agency and JICA, and secondly, participation in lectures by professors from the Japanese National Tax College and prestigious universities increased theoretical knowledge in the field of international taxation.

I would like to note separately that the visit to the Nagoya City Tax Inspectorate was another important event of the training course. It was very interesting for all participants to see the actual work places of employees of the Japanese tax system, communicate with them in the process of work and exchange experiences.

During the training course, I received a lot of new and important information, including, I clearly testify that Japan was one of the first countries in the world to adopt legislation on transfer prices in 1986, and has a lot of positive experience in this direction. We all know that price transfer and its control are an important part of international taxation. Based on this, much more positive things can be learned from Japan's experience in the field of international taxation.

I would like to thank JICA for giving me the opportunity to hone my skills and explore Japan's experience in international taxation.”
