2025.05.16

On May 14, 2025, the second meeting of the Joint Coordinating Committee (JCC) under the Technical Cooperation Project “Strengthening Energy Conservation Capacity through the Establishment of an Energy Manager Scheme and Zero-Energy Building (ZEB) Demonstration Pilot Project” was held with participation of senior officials from the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan, Research Institute for Renewable Energy Sources (NSRI RES), Research Institute for Regulation and Standardization in Construction as well as JICA Uzbekistan and JICA Consultants team.

To date, 6 training sessions have been conducted as part of the Energy Manager program, with 48 specialists trained. The Training of Trainers (ToT) held in November 2024 resulted in 7 certified trainers, who are now conducting bi-weekly sessions at NSRI RES to strengthen national capacity in energy auditing and management and have so far trained over 200 specialists. Additionally, a training in Japan in March 2025 provided Uzbek specialists with hands-on experience in advanced energy efficiency technologies, ZEB systems, and sustainable practices, supporting the development of Uzbekistan’s Energy Manager Scheme.
The ZEB Pilot Project is currently in the preparatory phase, with the target facility selected and implementation planned for late 2025. This demonstration initiative will introduce zero-energy building technologies and help develop local standards and financing mechanisms to support wider adoption.

The JCC meeting once again served as an important platform for dialogue and coordination between Japanese and Uzbek partners, reaffirming joint commitment to achieving the project’s long-term goals in energy conservation and sustainable development.
