JICA continues to implement technical cooperation opportunities in Zimbabwe with the latest being the training of over 20 ICT lecturers from all teachers’ colleges in Zimbabwe. The ICT training workshop was held at Mkoba Teachers’ College in Gweru and was co-facilitated by Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteer (JOCV) specialising in ICT, Risa Tomita and her Mkoba Teachers’ College counterpart Michael Dhihwa. The workshop was organised by the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation and Science Development in partnership with JICA.

The workshop was an extension of JICA’s JOCV programme to other institutions that have not been able to have a volunteer specifically stationed in those colleges. The main objectives of the workshop were to share the JOCVs experience in ICT, collaborate ICT skills amongst lecturers and the facilitators, sharing of best ICT practices, and create synergies and networks amongst ICT from various teachers’ colleges. The topics covered during the ICT workshop include labelling network directions, management of ruckus, TP link configuration management, server maintenance, cisco switch configuration, issues of internet security and PC maintenance and services. The workshop was well attended and included ICT lecturers from the recently established Hwange College of Education.
