JICA Zimbabwe Volunteer Requests In Progress!

The JICA Zimbabwe Office conducts needs surveys for volunteer requests throughout the year. The requests are then submitted to JICA HQ in January and August of every year.

In this regard, JICA Zimbabwe visited the NGO Music Crossroads Academy Zimbabwe, which promotes music education for all. The organization's director, Prudence Katomeni Mbofana, (the second person from the left in the photograph), shared some reflections of her musical journey, including learning music from a JICA volunteer at Harare Girls' High School between 1993 and 1995, and subsequently pursuing a career in music. Prudence is now one of Zimbabwe's most prominent female musicians! She said that meeting the JICA volunteers including a softball volunteer who worked at her high school, was important in shaping her life, highlighting the deep connection with JICA's volunteer programmes.

Since 1989, around 120 music volunteers have been dispatched to Zimbabwe. JICA aims to continue promoting development through the arts, sports and music.
