Project for Capacity Building in Irrigation Development (CBID)

As a continuation of the Project for Irrigation Farming Improvement (IFI), JICA launched the second-phase of The Project for Capacity Building in Irrigation Development (CBID) in 2009. The purpose of the project is to build the capacity of experts and officials at the regional, woreda (district) and kebele (county) level on proper irrigation practices. JICA works with the Oromia Irrigation Development Authority to provide technical experts who can assist to improve the quality of irrigation systems through the planning process (design and management) and the implementation process (construction and maintenance). The CBID project assists Ethiopian experts (engineers, highly skilled government officials) with any problematic issues regarding irrigation systems; which in turn assist the beneficiary community or the farmers. The goal of CBID is to equip the experts with the proper practical and technical skills in irrigation development to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of irrigation schemes in the Oromia region.
