The Project for Capacity and System Development of National Educational Assessment and Examinations in Science and Mathematics

The Project for Capacity and System Development of National Educational Assessment and Examinations in Science and Mathematics is currently in the formulation stage. The purpose of the project is to focus on the subject of mathematics and sciences as key drivers to improving the quality of education in Ethiopia. The objective of this project is to build the capacity of experts in item development, administration, analysis and feedback of examination and assessment results in mathematics and science. This project is a pilot program that will start in 2013 and finish in 2016. The key players involved are the National Educational Assessment and Examination Agency (NEAEA), Regional States examination officers, key teachers and local schools, and their role is to be engaged in the item development process. Although the project is still in the formulation stage, once it is materialized the NEAEA will use the international standard of item development, analysis, banking and the feedback system to improve the capacity and system development of national examinations and assessments in Science and Mathematics in Ethiopia.
