Mr. M.L.M. Cooray, Project counterpart officer in the Metal Work Technology section, underwent a group training in Nagoya–Japan from the 03rd April 2006 to 21st October 2006, under the course named “International Welding Engineer Training” and Mr. K.K.H. Kulatunge, Head, Metal Work Technology section, also had training in Chiba–Japan from the 2nd July 2006 to 30th September 2006, under the course named “Individual Training in Welding”.

Both counterpart officers reported back to the Project after having their training in Japan and they did their presentations on the 10th of November 2006 at the expert conference room in JSCoT.

They did a good presentation using power point, not only to show the training activities that they performed during their training in Japan, but also to share their experience with their colleagues in the JSCoT.

Mr. Kulathunge and Mr. Cooray highlighted that even though the program was compacted they were able to experience, to some extent, modern welding technologies like TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) and MAG (Metal Active Gas) welding, which were new to them.”

They also answered confidently to the questions raised by their colleagues and the Japanese experts regarding their training.

They finally thanked their “SENSEI” for imparting them the skills and knowledge relevant to their specialties and expressed their confidence in their teaching.
