To encourage young trainees to seek the higher degree of expertise and to enhance the public appreciation of skills achievement and vocational training, thereby raising both skills and socio-economic status of workers and contributing to the development of Sri Lankan Industry, this year (2006) too, we are continuing the Skills Competition as one of JSCoT activities in the 3rd consecutive year.

This year we conduct ten trades; namely Electrical Wiring, Wood Machinist, Plumbing, Welding, Masonry, Fitter Machinist, Electronics, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanics, Motor Vehicle Mechanics and Engineering Draughtsmanship. Out of these ten trades, we have conducted nine trades (expect Engineering Draughtsmanship) at the 36 Technical Colleges as the 1st step and selected the winners in each trade at each Technical College.
