The 5th Steering Committee Meeting was held on 9th January 2007 at the conference room of the DTET. The meeting chaired by Dr. H.L. Obeyesekera, DG DTET, reviewed the achievements during October–December 2006.

Mr. Y. Umimae, the Chief Advisor, JSCoT Project presented the overall report on the project activities during October to December and submitted an activity plan for January to March 2007. Thereafter, the head of each courses presented the progress of each specialized field, along with the activity plans.

Mr. Wijenayake the Principal, JSCoT, reported the progress in recruiting students and in preparing selection tests.

The Committee decided to;

- Commence the ICT and Metal Work courses in Maradana CoT on the 29th January, 2007,
- Select students by an aptitude test and an interview,
- Prepare students to the required level by giving them a gap filling/ bridging course.

Mr. Ranaweera, the Director, Exams reported that the college level and zonal level skills competitions were over and the committee has decided to hold the final competition on 22nd of January 2007 at Technical College, Kegalle.
