Visit to ATI, Katubedda and CGTTI, Rathmalana on the 24th January, 2007

After the arrival of Mr. Kazuaki Sato, the Expert (Mechatronics), JSCoT Project, the Chief Advisor, Mr. Y. Umimae decided to visit the training providing agencies as well as factories related to Mechatronics.

At 10 a.m. on the 24th January, 2007 Mr. Umimae, Mr. Sato, Mr. Jayawardena and Mr. Nawaratne (Counterpart Officers in Mechatronics) and Mr. Goonawardena, Counterpart Officer, Japan Division, visited the Apprenticeship Training Institute (ATI) under the National Apprenticeship and Industrial Training Authority and Ceylon-German Technical Training Institute(CGTTI)under the Ministry of Skills Development and Public Enterprise.

We visited Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics Workshops and Labs of the ATI and got information on the modern equipment that they use for their training. Mr. S.S.A. Gunasekera, the Deputy Principal ATI, guided us and gave the fullest cooperation to collect the information which we needed.

Mr. Umimae thanked them for the opportunity that they gave us and invited them to visit our JSCoT Project in the near future.

At around 12:00 moon on the same day we visited CGTTI–Ratmalana. Mr. Umimae briefly explained to Mr. Gamini Manchanayake, the Principal CGTTI, our JSCoT Project and the new three courses that we will be going to commence in the near future. After that we visited their Mechatronics lab., Motor Electrical and Welding workshops.

Mr. Sato was very interested in PLC Pneumatics, CNC and Hydraulics machines and equipment and the instructors in each Lab explained very positively which Mr. Sato wanted to clarify further more.

Finally Mr. Umimae thanked the Principal and staff of CGTTI.
