Mr. Sato, the short-term expert (Mechatronics) reported, on 09 March 2007, issues the Project faces and achievements that he achieved during his period from 13th January to 09th March 2007.

The summary of his presentation is as follows:

Achievements
1.Prepared draft syllabuses, lesson plans, assignment sheets and teaching materials to meet the industrial needs,
2.Reviewed staff training program in Japan in 2007,
3.Prepared the specifications of equipment to be purchased in JEY 2007,
4.Provided advice on workshop improvement,
5.Conducted the staff training in PLC.

Issues / Suggestions
1.Discrepancy between the educational and training circles and industrial people concerning human resources they train/they need,

2.Assignment of a long-term expert will be desirable. If a short-term expert is assigned, the same expert is suggested to be dispatched as many time as possible in terms of efficiency as well as of effectiveness (as the other donor agencies do),

3.Project may request that the training in Japan use the same equipment as requested by the Project and the training institutes in Japan are supposed to respond to the request as far as possible.

Finally Mr. N.R.R.K. Wijenayake, Mr. K.D.W. Goonewardena and Mr. J. Ariyasinghe thanked Mr. Sato for his best contribution to the project during his short period in Sri Lanka and also requested him to render his services as an expert in the future.
