Report of Mr. S. OCHI & Counterpart Officers on 28. 06. 2007

During his stay from 21st May to 11th July 2007, Mr. S. OCHI, the short-term expert in ICT, with his counterpart officers, reviewed the current situation of syllabus and teaching materials development, selected the relevant equipment and systems to be procured in JFY 2007 as well as discussed the preparatory measures for the accreditation and efficient training management, among others.

At his presentation on his last day, he emphasized that the counterpart officers should always plan the theory and practical components properly, do accordingly, check periodically, alter appropriately then make the new plan and re-do the same, as the ICT environment is rapidly changing day by day. Also he stressed to get the accreditation when everything is prepared according to the suggestions given by him.

Counterpart officers of the ICT section also made some presentations in relation to the training given by Mr. Ochi on the following topics:

1.Future management of the ICT section under following items.
-- ID (Instructional design) – Cycle execution(PCM),
-- Improve the ability of faculty members,
-- Establishment of system to prepare curriculum,
-- Technology infrastructure.

2.Introduction to System Dynamics
-- History & what is System Dynamics (SD),
-- Characteristics of SD,
-- The methodology,
-- The tools,
-- Application of SD,
-- Relevance of SD for training & education.

3.E-Learning system for training management at JSCoT – ICT section
-- What is e-Learning and present situation of using e-Learning in Sri
Lanka,
-- Benefits of e-Learning for TVET sector in Sri Lanka and the need for introducing e-Learning based ICT courses at JSCoT,
-- Potential of JSCoT in establishing Learning Management System for training management,
-- Available facilities and the support needed from JICA for establishing e-Learning based courses.

Mr. Y. Umimae, Chief Advisor of JSCoT Project, thanked the reporters for their presentations and explained that they suggested significant challenges we should face in the future to improve the ICT program in the Project and finally Mr. N.R.R.K. Wijenayake, Principal Maradana College and Project Manager, delivered the vote of thanks.
