MEMBERS FROM HOUSE OF COUNCILORS, JAPAN

On the 23rd of August 2007, three members of the parliament of Japan (House of Councilors) visited Maradana College of Technology (JSCoT Project) with the officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, the Embassy of Japan – Sri Lanka and the JICA Sri Lanka Office.

Dr. H.L. Obeysekara, Director General, Department of Technical Education and Training (DTET), Mr. Wijenayake, Director Maradana CoT, the staff and students warmly welcomed the members from Japan.

They visited the classes and workshops of Mechatronics, ICT and Metal Work and received the briefing on their activities by counterpart officers and interviewed the students practicing in the IT workshop.

They asked some questions to the trainees to clarify the relevancy of the training. Hon. Member of Parliament Tetsuro YANO who delivered a small speech, stating "This grant is given to make the friendship between Japan and Sri Lanka more strengthened. Therefore please get more and more opportunities to practice with this equipment and get the experience to develop industry in Sri Lanka. " Hon. Members of Parliament T. YANO, A. Gunji and H. Kazama thanked all the participants.
