Report of Mr. T. Ito on 10.09.2007

Mr. Tatsuya ITO, JICA Short-term Expert, Metalwork, who served here in SLCoT from 30th July to 10th September 2007, did his final presentation on 10th September 2007.

During the period of his assignment he had been able to transfer technology to our counterpart officers in Sheet Metal work, using heavy machines like Press Brake, Shearing machine and Rolling machine. Through this training he has covered the following areas and through a project work the final outcome was a "Document Box".

-Safety operation of machines
-Selection of punch and die on press–break
-Relation between storks and angles
-Development methods

He also covered the following areas by using hand tools, and the final product was a "Dust Pan".

-Marking procedures (lines and circles)
-Cutting methods (straight and curve using snips)
-Folding joints
-Curling edges
-Emboss forming

During this period our counterpart officers launched their 1st three day instructor training program on "Metalwork" under the Know How dissemination program, in which 13 instructors from technical colleges participated.

"I was able to complete my assignment with a full cooperation of counterpart officers. They worked hard and I believe that they can transfer the Metalwork technology to the other instructors in TC/ CoTs" Ito san added at his presentation as a comment.

Mr. Umimae, Chief Advisor, Mr. Wijenayaka, Executive Director SLCoT, Mr. Goonewardena, Counterpart Officer Japan Division, thanked Mr. Ito for his instruction and support.
