Counterpart officers of Mechatronics section visited the University of Peradeniya with their short-term experts in Mechatronics, Mr. A. Muraoka and Mr. T. Tatara, to collect information related to Mechatronics on the 24th of January 2008.

Our team was warmly welcomed by Mr. W. D. Kularatne, the Technical Staff Officer and then preceded to the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department (EEED). First, we visited the project area where the 3rd year students do their project work. Then to the Instrumentation Lab and Electronics Lab where they installed PLC, Industrial Automation, Robotics and SCADA equipment.

They have a High Voltage Testing Lab, where the other outside agencies like Electricity Board, Lanka Electricity Company etc do their testing by using this Lab. Dr. Sanath Alahakoone, the HoD (EEED) and Dr. Lilantha Samaranayaka gave all necessary guidance and clarifications during our visit to this Department.

Finally we visited the Production Engineering Department under the guidance of Mr. Parakrama, Senior Lecturer. We collected sufficient information related to:
・Robot Dynamics and Control System
・Coordinate Measuring Machine
・Wire cut EDM Machine
・Injection Moulding Machine
・CNC Milling Machine
・Four Axis CNC Milling Machine etc.
No doubt they have enough resources like well trained lecturers, sophisticated instruments, machines, workshops and labs to train their under graduate students.

Finally Mr. Goonawardena, the Counterpart Officer of Japan Division, thanked them and invited them to visit JSCoT project.
