INAUGURATION CEREMONY OF NVQ LEVEL 5 & 6 COURSES 2008,

Inauguration ceremony for the 2nd group of students for NVQ level 5 & 6 courses in Sri Lanka College of Technology (SLCoT) was held on the 29th January, 2008 at the auditorium of the College. This event began with the lighting of Traditional Oil Lamp.

Executive Director, SLCoT, Mr. Wijenayake, welcomed the gathering and revealed that the College has enough human and physical resources to train these new courses on Mechatronics, Welding and Information Technology.

In his speech of the Chief Advisor of JSCoT Project, Mr. Umimae said that the Project likes to do its utmost by providing training to best meet the aspirations of the students. He assured that they have prepared the best study environment in terms of equipment, facilities, staffing and training contents. Further he stressed, "'I hope you study not only technical knowledge and skills, but also attitudes you find in the College such as discipline, punctuality, team working, creativity and problem- solving, among others."'

Mr. Epa thanked on behalf of parents and said, "I was waiting for long years to achieve my target to send my son to a course like Mechatronics. Today I am really happy to say that I achieved it."

On behalf of Director General of DTET, the Additional Director General, Mr. Kulatunga in his speech, appreciated the team work of the officers of JSCoT Project and he especially thanked Mr. Wijenayake for his leading role.

Assistant Resident Representative of JICA Sri Lanka Office, Mr. Iida congratulated all students on their being selected for three new courses and expressed his gratitude to the academic, administration and supporting staff for their cooperation. Further he added, "At the completion of this Project we hope that DTET will gain the managerial and technical capacities in establishing CoT in each province with the intention of introducing modal courses of NVQ levels 5 & 6 to train technicians in the country. I would like to extend my appreciation once again towards the instructors and the supportive staff for their contribution and dedication."

Finally the vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Ariyasinghe, the head of model courses.
