Reports of Short-Term Experts

Mr. Y. Yamaguchi, short-term expert in ICT, Mr. T. Tatara and Mr. A. Muraoka, short-term experts in Mechatronics, presented their reports on the 28th of February, 2008.

Mr. Tatara and Mr. Muraoka reported that the following work they performed:
1.Checking of equipment-JFY2007,
2.Equipment plan for JFY2008,
3.Planning on workshops and labs,
4.Technology transfer regarding 8-bit Microcontroller(PIC & Programming language), current equipment & tools (FA sensor application, Pick and Place Robot, Electronics measuring equipment and Microcontroller development system),
5.Advice on making training plans(weekly, monthly and annual),
6.Advice on planning & implementation of upgrading training (PLC control & Mini FA model),
7.Programming of counterpart training in Japan, 2008,
8.Visits to a factory and institutions.

They stressed the importance that trainees at NVQ levels at 5 & 6 should have competencies not only in operation and maintenance of the relevant equipment and systems specified in Curriculum outline, but also in their designing required as Mechatronics technicians.

Then Mr. Yamaguchi reported his progress on the following headings:
1.Technology transfer in Database management, Windows 2003 server management, LAMP system construction, soft ware testing and Web-DB system construction,
2.Advice on equipment of JFY2007,
3.Advice on syllabus development,
4.Planning on individual training of counterpart in JFY2008.
Furthermore he suggested the following matters to be carried out appropriately by the teaching staff of the ICT section to improve the teaching environment:
1.Management of each computer room assigning responsible staff in charge,
2.Arrangement of the System Lab for network practice and the project,
3.Conscious actions on illegal software, virus and copy rights.

The Chief Advisor of JSCoT Project Mr. Y. Umimae, thanked the experts for their work and highlighted some future activities to be arranged on the reports of the Experts to keep the teaching environment to appropriately suit the training delivery.

Finally Ms. Guruge, on behalf of the staff, did the vote of thanks and said, "We really appreciate their work done in order to improve the teaching and training delivery."
