Mid-Term Evaluation Team Visited JSCoT Project

A 5 member mid-term evaluation team consisting of Ms. Yasuko Nishino (Team Leader), Ms. Chiharu Morita, Mr. Hirotake Iida, Mr. Raimei Nakano and Ms. Yuki Ohashi visited Sri Lanka from 5th to 14th of March 2008 to conduct a mid-term evaluation study on the Project for the Establishment of Japan-Sri Lanka College of Technology to strengthen Technical Education and Training in Sri Lanka.

During their short stay in Sri Lanka, the Team had a series of discussions with the Sri Lankan authorities concerned, assessed the achievements of the Project and exchanged views on their interest. Also they visited some TVET institutions, other donor agencies and one factory and collected information relevant to their mission.

As a result of discussions, both sides came to an agreement regarding the evaluation results including recommendations. This agreement was signed by Ms. Nishino and Mr. Thilak Hapangama, Secretary, Ministry of Vocational and Technical Training, Ms. D. C. W. Hapugoda, Deputy Director, Department of External Resources, Ministry of Finance and Planning and Dr. H. L. Obeysekera, Director General, Department of Technical Education and Training, on 14th March, 2008 at the Secretary's conference room of the Ministry.

The Project will be expected to further implement its activities in the second half based on their recommendations.
