Reporting of Mr. Thoru Kawashima

Mr. Thoru Kawasima, the short term expert on Welding Technology of JSCoT project reported about the progress of his short term assignment on the 13th of October 2008.

According to Mr. Kawashima's presentation it was reported that preparation of "home Incinerators', conducting of short term course for Instructors of Technical colleges on "SMA welding", establishment of equipment maintenance system, steel pipe welding and thermal spraying has been done under his guidance and supervision. Also guidance for supervisory modules and preparation of arrangements to out source lecturers for three supervisory modules were done under Mr. Kawashima's assistance and guidance.

As the conclusion of Mr. Kawashima's reporting , he highlighted that welding skills on "multiple layer welding" and the training on" welding positions" of counterpart officers of JSCoT project is needed to be improved. He appreciated the good corporation and the dedication of his counterpart officers who worked with him during his stay in Sri Lanka for a period of two years and five months.

Mr. Kumar Goonewardena, coordination manager of JSCoT project, admired the great service done by Mr. Kawashima and thanked him for his devotion." On this occasion I should request our counterpart officers to make arrangements to develop a system to maintain the machineries and equipment as soon as possible" he added.

The chief Advisor of JSCoT project Mr. KISHIMOTO Takaomi, at his speech said "counterpart officers should teach on safety and practice safe working environment.

Finally, Mr. Kulatunge, the course coordinator of welding section, at his vote of thanking said "Mr. Kawashima was not only a great teacher but also a perfect leader who built his team towards the final goal by assisting in various avenues."
