The Japan Sri Lanka College of Technology (JSCoT) Project donated the final set of equipment for the ICT Section of the Sri Lanka College of Technology (SLCoT) in mid-May 2010. With the handing-over of the multimedia equipment, the Project has completed the ‘full’ set of equipment that is needed for training by the ICT Section of the SLCoT.

The equipment, valued over Rs 3 million enables the College to set-up a medium-sized multimedia laboratory so that its Level 6 students of the ICT Section could, from now onwards, receive hands-on training on the latest multimedia equipment.

Commenting on the event of receiving the equipment, Mr.Bandara, Director of the SLCoT said that SLCoT becomes the first College of Technology in Sri Lanka to set-up a modern multimedia training laboratory and its students could now receive training in multimedia application development at the College. The Director and the Course Coordinator of the ICT section gratefully acknowledged the equipment.

Earlier this year, the Project procured the services of the Producer of the Learning Resource Development Center (LRDC) of NITESL to prepare the specifications for multimedia equipment.

The Project has also arranged for a three-day hands-on training of the equipment to the staff of the ICT Section (to be provided by the supplier of the equipment) and a day’s training from some of the staff of LRDC. The training sessions are expected to be completed by the third week of June 2010.
