Short Term Training on Control Engineering

Mr. Keigo Hara, JICA Short Term Expert on Control Engineering concluded a five-week long technical knowledge transfer program for the staff of the Mechatronics Section of the Sri Lanka College of Technology (SLCoT) on 16 September 2009.

Five, out of six instructors of the Mechatronics Section participated in the program and completed about 250 hours of structured training on selected topics on Control Engineering. Basic and advanced training on Control Engineering was given to all the instructors, while three instructors received advanced training on network engineering and SCADA systems.

Mr. Hara also helped the Mechatronics Section to organize itself for the Tec 115 Exhibition and Career Fair organized by the College from 19 to 22 August 2009 to celebrate its one hundred and fifteenth year anniversary. He also adjudicated the competition held by the Mechatronics Section to select the winners of the robotics competition organized by the Mechatronics Section to coincide with the Exhibition.   

The instructors’ feedback on Mr. Hara’s program was very good and they were unanimous in requesting him for another round of training, if possible. He also presented the outcome of his training to an audience that comprised of the staff and students of the Mechatronics Section, staff of the JSCoT Project and the Additional Director of the College.

Mr. Hara commented on the enthusiasm and the eagerness of the staff who participated in the training and said that if it is not for their support, dedication and persistence, he would not have been able to complete his training as planned. He also said that the standard of the students of Mechatronics is very high and that their exhibits at the Exhibition displayed their originality and creativity.

Mr. Ariyadasa, Additional Director of the College, Mr. Ariyasinghe, Head of the Model Courses and Mechatronics staff and Mr. Kumar Goonewardene, Project Coordinating Manager of the JSCoT Project thanked Mr. Hara for his excellent work and said that the College and the Mechatronics staff greatly value his services.
