Short Term Training on CNC Technology

Mr Toshiaki Hara, JICA Short Term Expert on CNC (Computer Numeric Control) Technology concluded his six-week long technical knowledge transfer program on 23 December 2009 for two instructors of the Mechatronics Section and one instructor from the Welding Section of the Sri Lanka College of Technology (SLCoT).

The three instructors who participated in the program completed about 350 hours of structured training on selected topics on CNC Technology using the FANUC Robodrill machine available at the College. The program was conducted under the supervision of JICA Long Term Expert on Mechatronics, Professor Kenji Hiramatsu and the Head of Level 5 and 6 Model Courses, Mr. J Ariyasinghe.

The instructors’ feedback on Mr Hara’s program was very good and except for a few points, he had completed all the modules according to his training plan. He also presented the outcome of his training to an audience that comprised of the Director of the College, Mr. W M C Bandara, instructors of the Mechatronics and Welding Sections, students of the Mechatronics Section, JICA Long Term Expert on Mechatronics, Professor Hiramatsu, JSCoT Project Acting Chief Advisor, Mr.Hiroshi Saito and Course Know-How Dissemination Consultant of the JSCoT Project, Mr. Azad Ibrahim.

Mr. Hara commented on the enthusiasm and the eagerness of the staff who participated in the training and said that if it is not for their support, dedication and persistence, he would not have been able to complete his training as planned. He also said that the standard of the instructors is very high and this helped him to complete his technology transfer without any issues or problems.

Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Bandara, Mr. Ariyasinghe and Mr. Navaratne, an instructor of the Mechatronics Section who was trained by Mr. Hara thanked him for his excellent work and said that the College greatly values his services. They also thanked JICA Sri Lanka and the JSCoT Project for organizing another round of training training for the instructors.
