Moldovan medical experts learned Japan's disaster medical management system

The rapid influx of displaced persons from Ukraine, as many as 600,000, out of which 80,000 persons stay in Moldova, has put pressure on medical services in Moldova, Ukraine's neighboring country with a population of approx. 2.64 million.

To help build a disaster medical management system for emergencies, JICA invited six officials from Moldovan institutions to share Japan's experience in disaster management. Through observations of Japan DMAT's (Disaster Medical Assistance Team) activities and site visits to disaster base hospitals, the group got impressed by Japan's holistic and well-organized disaster management system. The State Secretary of the Ministry of Health expressed his gratitude for Japan's prompt cooperation and remarked that they will take home what they have learnt during their stay.

JICA will continue to cooperate to help establish a strong disaster medical management system in Moldova.
