On the 3rd of March, 2012, the first IST coordinators' workshop was held at Peninsula hotel, Suva. The meeting was held as an extension of Working group E (Policy Design) of the project. Both divisional and hospital IST coordinators were attended from each division. In the workshop, the roles and functions of a IST coordinator were discussed. Based on such discussions, position descriptions of IST Coordinators both National and Divisional levels will be reviewed by the project and proposed to the MOH. It will be also used to advocate the Public Service Commission (PSC) to gain the IST coordinators' formal positions.

In the workshop, the IST inventory (Nursing human resource data base with IST history) was also discussed. A trial version of the IST inventory had been development and tried out by the IST coordinator in Cent-eastern Divisions. All of IST coordinators as well as National training manager from Training Unit expressed their supportive opinions on this IST inventory. As a result, it was decided that all the Divisions will start using it in short. It was also discussed that information should be shared with Human Resource Information System (HRIS) and Training Unit regularly though Nursing Division can maintain own inventory in order to distribute training opportunity equally and efficiently. The project will facilitate coordinating with the HRIS and Nursing division.
