In the western part of Fiji, the total of 19 mid-level nursing managers and its candidates gathered to participate in the training for Supervision & Coaching between the 27th of September and the 29th of September 2011. The training was effective in terms of enhancing their overall knowledge about supervision and coaching as can be seen in the posttest results; such that over 90% of the participants scored 30% or higher on posttest compared to pretest. Furthermore, for the coaching training which incorporated role playing, positive comments such as ‘I understood the supervisee's feelings and it was a new experience’ were received from some of the participants. This type of training is expected to improve on-the-job communication skills in the future.
