In order to observe performance of the existing and potential mid-level nursing managers participated in the Supervision and Coaching training, post training supervisory visit (PTSV) was conducted in North, West, and Central Fiji. The PTSV was provided in the following schedule.
The main finding from visiting the four western sub-divisions was that although sub-divisional health sisters (SDHSs) at each sub-division understand the training content, their encouragement for community health nurses' (CHNs) involvement is still insufficient. For the case of Northern Division, we toured 3 sub-divisions, and the motivation of divisional in-service training coordinator (D-ISTC) and each SDHS's encouragement towards the CHNs (community health nurses) were assessed. These PTSVs confirmed that everyone understands the importance of nursing management by mid-level nursing managers. Now remaining objectives become 1) providing an environment where mid-level nursing managers can continuously gain practical work experience, and 2) systematizing Supervision & Coaching activities.
