Starting on 27 September 2022, a walkability survey on streets began at the Rangsit Campus in Thammasat University. The survey makes use of virtual reality (VR) equipment in combination with a treadmill, namely a VR treadmill, that allows subjects to experience walking on several different patterned streets designed by computer graphics (CGs). The experience also allows subjects to evaluate physical features, safety, and general satisfaction. The walkability survey is collaborative research between Meijo University which is responsible for survey design and consultation, Nippon Engineering Consultants Co., Ltd. which designs CGs, NECTEC which manipulates the VR treadmill, and Thammasat University where the survey was implemented. The purpose of the survey is to propose future street designs for inclusion in the Streets for All guidelines as an output by research group 2.
