Starting Formulation of Participatory Forest Management Plan and Livelihood Development Plan for Ta Len Site

SUSFORM-NOW project and Viet Nam Forestry University (VFU) signed on the contract "Capacity Building of The Executing Agencies of SUSFORM-NOW Project for Facilitating Participatory Village Development Plans (VDPs) Formulation at Pilot Sites (The 3rd Stage)".

We have already formulated VDPs in Dien Bien and Dien Bien Dong district in May and June, and now we are starting formulation of Plans (Participatory Forest Management Plan and Livelihood Development Plan) for the Target Area, a part of the Ta Leng Pilot Site (the southern half of Ta Leng Commune, Dien Bien Phu city), which is cultivated by villagers of 3 neighboring villages, namely . Ke Nenh, Na Nghe, and Phieng Bua.

The southern part of Ta Leng commune is a denuded hill where can be seen well from the center of Dien Bien Phu city. A part of villagers of the 3 villages are cultivating the Target Area of the Ta Leng Site.

As Ta Leng site is in a very complex situation, cultivated by villages of the 9 different villages, therefore, SUSFORM-NOW project decided to support to formulate the Plans, step by step, from the top of the hill where cultivated by the villagers of the above mentioned 3 villages.

Implementation period of the contract is about 2.5 months, from 15 August, 2011 to 20 October, 2011.

SUSFORM-NOW Project will report the progresses of these activities continuously.
